Maintenance Tech
JBS is seeking an hourly Maintenance Tech 1st Shift Team Member. Position starts at $28–$40 per hour based on experience.

- Troubleshoot and repair production line equipment.
- Inspect, maintain, repair and overhaul electromechanical and solid‑state electrical equipment, using a variety of electrical test equipment, meters, powered and non‑powered tools.
- Provide maintenance services ensuring that all equipment is in good repair and in a safe operating condition.
- Install new electrical and electronic equipment and electrical wiring according to the National Electrical Code and company electrical standards.
- Maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems for project facilities and production equipment.
- Perform high voltage switching and operate generators in support of operations.
- Determine the existence of electrical hazards and problems. Safely isolate, ground, and prepare circuits and electrical apparatus to enable repairs.
- Troubleshoot and maintain motor control centers, motor start circuits, control loops, generators, high‑voltage switch gear, protective relaying, and related equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals to install, calibrate and maintain electrical apparatus. Work from complex engineering and manufacturer drawings or manuals to complete projects and assigned work.
- Install electrical conduit, pull and terminate wiring.
- Install and maintain control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, and control panels.
- Install and maintain drive systems such as variable‑frequency drives, eddy current, and DC drives. Install and maintain programmable logic control systems (PLC). Interpret and/or modify PLC control logic as necessary. Install and calibrate pressure, temperature, flow, and level controls.
- Repair or replace faulty electrical equipment, including electronic controls, meters, outlets, and panels.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining scheduled maintenance programs for plant equipment. Maintain records, update drawings, and develop safety procedures.
- Other duties as assigned in support of the plant maintenance departments.
- Industrial / commercial electrical background with high‑speed production line experience.
- Must have working knowledge of all areas of maintenance and advanced mechanical ability.
- Must have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, layout, install and maintain a wide variety of new and existing electrical equipment and processes, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing and electrical controls.
- Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures and conditions.
- Must have good working knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC).
- Must be able to provide the required tools at personal expense.
- Must be able to use a multimeter accurately and safely.
- 3–5 years of experience in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of production line equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, including high‑voltage switch gear, protective relaying, grounding procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, safety procedures, and electrical test equipment.
- Ability to work unscheduled hours during emergencies and/or unusual situations (24 h/7 d when needed).
- Knowledge of computer software/hardware with basic programming is highly desirable.
ACTIVITIES:
Very active position, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
HEARING:
Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
REPETITIVE MOTION:
Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
VISUAL ABILITIES:
Acute close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH:
Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lb, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lb, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lb throughout the day.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to work for long hours in a no‑kill food processing environment, where it is wet, damp, and cold. Employees are expected to remain in these conditions for most of their workdays.
