The Program Coordinator position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a drop-in childcare program. This role ensures a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while managing staff, maintaining policies and procedures, and providing excellent customer service to families. This position will be under the direction of a Program Supervisor.
Examples of Work (Illustrative Only)- Responsible for the on-site supervision and instruction of drop-in childcare services in Kids Korner.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment.
- Create and oversee staffing for Kids Korner, birthday party rentals, and the climbing wall.
- Take the lead in training and onboarding new staff in program standards and expectations.
- Schedule and manage responsibilities of birthday party rentals and climbing wall.
- Responsible for the planning, supervision , and evaluation of Kids Korner operations under the direction of the Program Supervisor.
- Responsible for assisting with the administration of various programs.
- Assist with set-ups/teardowns, closing and securing program materials.
- Monitor the safe and appropriate use of all recreational equipment.
- Maintain accountability and proper storage; report maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain a positive and approachable composure to promote patron-employee interaction.
- Prepare and maintain administrative records and paperwork as requested.
- Lead or attend in-service training sessions and/or staff meetings as requested.
- Uphold the policies and procedures of the City of Mason and Parks & Recreation Department.
- Display knowledge of the department’s Infectious Material & Exposure Incident Policy and facility Emergency Action Procedures.
- Administer and record any necessary first aid/victim care within the level of emergency training.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all emergency procedures throughout the recreational areas.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
The following is preferred.
- Acquire and maintain current certification in American Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR.
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Ability to lift and move objects.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Good organization and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Work in a recreational environment both indoors and outdoors including instruction of classes. Requires walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, talking and seeing. Ability to lift/carry objects up to 50 pounds. This is a high public contact position. Shifts will meet the needs of the department and may include weekday mornings, weekday evenings, and weekends.
