Our client, a growing and highly respected healthcare organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, grant compliance, budgeting, and financial systems initiatives. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a key leadership role with significant visibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both organizational performance and community outcomes.
Position Overview
The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial operations for a complex healthcare organization with annual revenues exceeding $60 million. This individual will provide leadership across financial reporting, audit, budgeting, grant administration, internal controls, compliance, and financial systems optimization.
This role will directly manage an Accounting Manager and Grant Manager while serving as a strategic partner to executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and fixed assets.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Coordinate annual audits and manage external auditor relationships.
- Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies.
- Oversee accounting and financial administration of federal, state, and private grant-funded programs.
- Ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) and grant reporting requirements.
- Monitor grant budgets, expenditures, drawdowns, reimbursements, and reporting deadlines.
- Partner with operational leaders to support budgeting, compliance, and grant performance.
- Lead grant-related audits and compliance reviews.
- Lead annual operating and capital budgeting processes.
- Develop financial forecasts and strategic financial models.
- Monitor financial performance and provide variance analysis to senior leadership.
- Support strategic decision-making through data-driven financial insights.
- Lead ERP and financial systems optimization initiatives.
- Drive automation and process improvement efforts.
- Utilize business intelligence, analytics, and dashboard reporting tools.
- Partner with leadership on finance transformation and technology projects.
- Develop, mentor, and lead accounting and finance staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support professional development and succession planning within the finance team.
