Position Detail:

We currently have an opening for a Trail Maintenance Temp at our Northfield, MA location. This is a part-time, temporary role through approximately the end of March. Hours are 4:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday.

The Trail Maintenance Temp reports to the Sr. Manager, Recreation & Programming and will provide maintenance and upkeep to the cross country ski trails at the Northfield Visitor Center’s XC ski operations.

The compensation for this position is typically $23.00 per hour. The final compensation offered will depend on several factors that may include, but are not limited to, the type and years of relevant experience, industry-specific experience, relevant education/certifications and geographic location.

• Ensure the safety of guests and employees by maintaining the highest standards of trail maintenance and safety;
• Maintain skiing surfaces to the highest standards;
• Minimize down time of trails through preventative maintenance and upkeep of machinery;
• Perform general labor tasks associated with trail work and ski operations;
• Communicate regularly and clearly with staff and follow directions accurately;
• Operate snowmobiles along trails to perform duties;
• Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned;
• Comply with First Light policies and procedures.

• High School diploma or equivalent;
• Must be at least 18 years old;
• Must have clean, valid driver's license;
• Experience with operating machinery;
• Experience operating snowmobiles and snowcats;
• 2A Hoister license preferred, but not required;
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills;
• Strong reading and writing skills and ability interpret and follow strict safety procedures;
• Ability to meet highest attendance requirements;
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays;
• Strong teamwork experience.
