The Buyer II partners closely with supplier partners to manage purchasing activities that support customer demand and inventory goals. This role owns supplier communication, order execution, and follow-up, ensuring products are ordered, delivered, and received on time. The Buyer II supports stocking, specials, and new product introductions while maintaining accurate ERP data and keeping internal teams informed.
This position plays a key role in supplier performance, expediting, and inventory management, and contributes to SIOP activities to help keep supply aligned with demand. The Buyer II reports to the Manager of Production Planning.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL- Manage purchasing activities for stock, specials, and new product introductions
- Analyze inventory levels and ordering patterns to place purchase orders and recommend blanket orders
- Own supplier relationships, including order acknowledgments, delivery follow-ups, quality issues, and monthly performance reviews
- Expedite with suppliers to support customer commitments and resolve late or backordered items
- Communicate order status and arrival dates to customer-facing teams and internal stakeholders
- Act as a liaison between suppliers and Finance to resolve invoice questions, payment terms, and related issues
- Review reports to identify stocking needs, backorders, and late orders, then take appropriate action
- Support SIOP activities by acting on planning outcomes to maintain appropriate inventory levels
- Maintain accurate purchasing data in ERP systems and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
- Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field, or 2 to 3 years of experience in buying, procurement, or supply chain roles
- Working knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems (Epicor Prophet 21 or Kinetic a plus)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with comfort working across departments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while staying organized and detail-oriented
- Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed
- A proactive, approachable style with a practical, problem-solving mindset
The pay range for this position is $60k - $70k annually. This range reflects what the company reasonably expects to pay at the time of posting. Where an individual’s pay falls within the range will depend on their skills, background, and performance.
