Career Preparation Program Instructor

Position Summary

Responsible for providing engaging instruction, training, and individualized support to students during the Career Preparation Program. Develops achievement plans, evaluates student progress, and supports early retention, readiness, and successful transition into the Career Development Period.

Responsibilities
  • Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data.
  • Delivers effective classroom instruction and evaluates student performance, participation, and readiness.
  • Supports the Center in meeting or exceeding DOL/Company performance goals.
  • Provides remedial support, coaching, and guidance to help students successfully complete CPP requirements.
  • Evaluates and assesses student readiness to transition into the Career Development Period.
  • Provides individualized case management to support student progress, retention, and completion of the Job Corps program.
  • Establishes supportive mentoring relationships with students and provides personal and career‑readiness counseling.
  • Routinely evaluates and documents student progress using the required case management system.
  • Coordinates pre-arrival activities to support a smooth transition to Center life, including pre-arrival calls, transportation coordination, folder review, needs assessments, welcome activities, staff introductions, and Center tours.
  • Maintains an organized, clean, safe, and student-centered classroom environment.
  • Produces quality work and assignments in a thorough, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Maintains appropriate attendance, accountability, and work productivity standards.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and organizes assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.
  • Maintains job knowledge and proactively develops the skills needed to perform responsibilities effectively.
  • Mentors, monitors, and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
  • Provides high-quality student supervision, takes swift and appropriate action when needed, and positively influences student behavior.
  • Shows respect and courtesy to students while holding them accountable for their actions and behavior.
  • Provides quality programs and services that support student needs, retention, and success.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, and provides timely information to DOL/Company when requested.
  • Identifies problems, analyzes causes, recommends solutions, and follows up to ensure concerns are corrected.
  • Works collaboratively with staff across all departments to ensure effective supervision and student support services.
  • Accepts direction from Center leadership, including temporary assignments to support other departments or positions as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required. A degree from an accredited school preferred. Previous group facilitation, teaching or Job Corps experience preferred. Must possess a valid in‑state Driver’s License and meet the Company insurability requirements.
