Job Title: Sports Specialist-Camp

Position Summary

Plan and facilitate creative projects with a group of campers ranging in age 4-14 years.

Essential Functions
  • Design camper programs around specific camp specialties of an athletic, creative, physical and/or educational nature.
  • Plan and schedule activities based on the abilities, and interests of campers.
  • Write lesson plans that will l engage campers and foster and enhance their skill development.
  • Demonstrate appropriate use of equipment, proper techniques in activity participation, and articulate expected learning and achievement for satisfactory completion of activities.
  • Monitor participation to ensure safety rules and requirements are followed.
  • Maintain awareness of potential health and safety issues, identify hazards, and take appropriate action to resolve.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High School graduate or equivalent; minimum one year college preferred.
  • Experience working with children in day camp setting.
  • Ability to interact effectively with children and parents on a range of issues.
  • Experienced and skilled in one or more camp program activities.
  • Certified, or ability to be certified, within first 30 days of hire in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention.
Physical Demands
  • Required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to demonstrate physical stamina and agility, and stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, run, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity, and communicate verbally in a noisy environment.
