PositionThe CTS Assistant Superintendent is responsible for performing and supervising the completion of all the work required throughout each of the phases of the tank rehabilitation and retrofit process. It is understood that the CTS Assistant Superintendent is a hands-on supervisor and is responsible for assigning and following up on the work of others. The CTS Assistant Superintendent works directly with the CTS Field Superintendent or Project Manager to plan the workflow, ensure company quality and safety standards are maintained, and all deadlines are met.
The CTS Assistant Superintendent helps to develop the plan which includes daily and long-term milestones that support the overall job schedule and budget. The CTS Assistant Superintendent is required to provide training opportunities during the course of the project and to document training for all employees on site.
- Provides coaching and training utilizing the resources from DN University while motivating the team.
- Establishes crews, assigns responsibilities, and ensures that the work is completed in accordance with DN Tanks safety/quality programs and meets budgeted man-hours.
- Reviews and understands the overall job schedule and budget. This information assists with developing crew sizes and durations.
- Reads and interprets tank/contract drawings to ensure work is performed according to specifications.
- Checks and confirms elevation grades and plumbness on critical tank components.
- In the absence of the Superintendent, starts up/sets up a project including construction of forms, unloading and organizing trailers, and general site layout per drawings provided by Project Manager.
- In the absence of a Superintendent, closes out a project by understanding the project closeout/punchlist check off sheet and the procedures of calling all equipment off rent.
- Leads the quality control (QC) program by taking ownership of the quality inspections, following through with QC check assignments by others, and promoting employee participation.
- Works with the Superintendent or Project Manager to complete all required paperwork for the project including SIS schedule, equipment and QC photos, weekly safety inspection report, timesheets, etc.
- Coordinates with Purchasing and Warehouse Departments on the delivery of equipment and supplies as needed.
- Collaborates with the Superintendent or Project Manager to plan daily and long-term work schedule and complete weekly short interval schedules.
- Actively pursues training on Superintendent duties such as improving computer skills, scheduling, payroll administration, documentation logs, weather checks, etc. This includes using the iPad and the laptop computer.
- Understands the entire concrete supply program including calculating water/cement ratios, figuring dosage amounts for admixtures, mixing trucks to proper slump, and testing for slump and air content.
- Utilizes, studies, and maintains own set of tank drawings.
- Inventories material upon delivery to ensure components comply with the tank drawings prior to signature.
- Participates in a daily closeout meeting with the Superintendent/Project Manager providing an update on the day's activities and needs for the following day.
- Leads the APSP Safety Program and ensures that all personnel onsite are following DN Tanks safety policies.
- Responsible for communicating to all personnel onsite that they have stop work authority.
- Develops task hazard analysis (THA) and makes the necessary changes specific to the job site conditions and reviews with the crew.
- Identifies hazards, takes action to correct them, and is responsible for recognizing those who do the same in accordance with the Award of Excellence (AOE) Program.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized jobsite. Maintains all certifications in compliance with DN Tanks Safety & Equipment Programs.
- Identifies labor shortages, recruits local help, and identifies potential long-term field employees.
- Provides timely performance feedback on field employees to determine skill level, areas of required training and readiness for promotion and/or improvements.
- Arrives to the project site with enough time to plan the work prior to the arrival of the crew.
- Operate and maintain DN Tanks tools and equipment including hydro blaster, coating and epoxy injection pumps.
