Job SummaryThe Superintendent oversees daily site construction activities and manages field personnel to ensure project completion within schedule and budget, upholding high quality standards and enforcing construction safety practices on site. The position requires reporting to a project site five days a week and living near the project location or surrounding areas. The ideal candidate may be assigned to other project locations across the United States after the initial assignment.
Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate, direct and supervise all aspects of day-to-day field operations.
- Communicate and coordinate with project team members to maintain schedule, safety, budget and quality control.
- Plan and organize project work in accordance with contract documents.
- Understand owner contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Conduct on-site meetings with subcontractors, owners and tradesmen.
- Schedule and monitor field productivity.
- Provide mentorship and training to the project team.
- Supervise project start-up, completion, and close-out processes.
- Maintain documentation such as change order logs, RFI logs, and submittal logs.
- Manage and oversee all contractual issues and establish/maintain customer relationships.
- Forecast costs accurately for job completion.
- Ensure timely and safe completion of the project while adhering to contract documents and budgets.
- Coordinate with the Safety Manager to meet safety goals.
- 10-15 years of experience with a general contracting company
- Open to traveling throughout the U.S.
- Thorough understanding of construction materials, means, methods and building systems
- Experience managing projects $20MM+
- Experience in federal sector projects
- Experience in healthcare projects
- Experience managing change orders, writing contracts, and building schedules
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe and Bluebeam
- Ability to develop and comprehend RFIs, potential change orders, total project schedules, 3-week look-aheads, and other project documents
- Ability to manage subs in a hard-bid capacity and hold subcontractors to their contracts
- Clear communication with home office, owners, subcontractors and experience running owner meetings
- Availability to work on any shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) as hospital construction occurs at all hours
- Experience in Davis-Bacon prevailing wage or union-required projects
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
- Desire to stay and grow with a company that provides mentorship and training
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or an engineering discipline
- Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs
- Knowledge of EM 385 and CQMC
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience managing projects $20MM+
