Position: Sailing Instructor / Coaches
Location: South Dartmouth

New Bedford Yacht Club (NBYC), established in 1877, is a private members-only yacht club located on the historic Padanaram Harbor near the scenic waters of Buzzards Bay. NBYC offers exceptional waterfront facilities, including docks, harbor launch, and fuel services, as well as a stately Clubhouse steeped in maritime heritage. The Club serves as a gathering place for boating enthusiasts of all ages, fostering camaraderie and a vibrant community for members, guests, and visiting seafarers.

NBYC is a cornerstone of the boating community and a hub for those passionate about yachting and sailing.

Role Description

This is a Part-Time, Seasonal temporary position for a Sailing Instructor/Coach located on-site in South Dartmouth, MA. The individual will be responsible for providing sailing instruction, coaching youth and adults, and ensuring participant safety at all times. Tasks include teaching sailing skills, leading training sessions, assisting with regattas, and maintaining boats and equipment. Additionally, the instructor will foster a positive learning environment and encourage skill development and teamwork among participants.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Sailing and Yachting, with strong technical skills and hands-on experience.
  • Experience in Sailing Instruction and Training, with the ability to teach and mentor individuals of varying skill levels.
  • Excellent Communication skills to effectively interact with participants, staff, and parents.
  • Strong understanding of safety practices and the ability to ensure a secure environment for all participants.
  • Previous coaching experience and a passion for working with youth and adults in a nautical setting.
  • US Sailing Level 1 or higher certification is preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is highly recommended.
