Overview
The Williams College Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics, beginning fall 2025, at the rank of assistant professor. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related field by the time of appointment. We seek candidates who show evidence and/or promise of excellence in teaching students from diverse backgrounds and a strong research program that can engage undergraduate students.

Responsibilities- Teach two courses per semester and a winter term course every other January.
- Teach introductory statistics, core courses for the statistics major, and electives in the candidate’s area of expertise.
- Advise student colloquia (the capstone experience for seniors) and mentor senior thesis students.
- Establish an independent research program that leads to scholarly publications.
- Participate in the college’s teaching and scholarly support resources (e.g., shared computer cluster for parallel computation, teaching center, grants office, professional development funds).
- Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
- Evidence and/or promise of excellence in teaching students from diverse backgrounds and a strong research program that engages undergraduates.
