Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School is seeking a dynamic, motivated teacher for various history and social studies courses. Candidates should be able to teach any of the department's core courses (Civics, Modern World History, US History I, and US History II). The ideal candidate will be able to work across multiple grade levels and have a willingness to take on new courses and electives.
Social Studies teachers are responsible for utilizing research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students. Candidates must work collaboratively with teachers in the Dennis-Yarmouth Social Studies teachers and Department Head throughout the year to continually improve the experience and performance of our students. Teachers should be well versed in Massachusetts Social Studies Standards, as well as Sheltered English Instruction (SEI) practices to ensure access to content for all students.
Teachers must exercise culturally responsive practices to promote equity and respect for all students.

- Plan and facilitate engaging lessons that are aligned with State Standards
- Create engaging lessons that are linked with 21st Century skills.
- Cultivate a classroom culture where students discourse is encouraged and valued
- Manage classroom behavior with Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies that motivate students and limit disruptions.
- Utilize inclusive practices and SEI strategies for students on IEPs and English Learners.
- Collaborate with department members in Professional Learning Communities to analyze instructional data and improve student performance
- Implement Community Advocacy Project in collaboration with 8th and 11th grade teachers
- Utilize available data to make instructional decisions that target the academic and linguistics needs of students.
- Proctor assessments for students in grades 8-12 including MCAS
- Communicate with student families on a regular basis using culturally responsive strategies that promote two-way conversations.
- Employ a strong growth mindset and participate in professional development
- Collaborate with guidance counselors to refer students who are in need of Social Emotional support.
- Collaborate with Special Education leadership and teacher colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are properly and consistently delivered.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives, duties and events which may be assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal.
- Bachelor’s Degree in History or related Social Studies discipline
- Massachusetts Teaching Licensure in History or Social Studies (8-12)
- SEI Endorsement
