PROGRAM
DESCRIPTION:
The 5th Quarter program aims to provide equitable access to high-quality academic and enrichment opportunities for students across Boston, utilizing the city's resources as an extended classroom. The program is designed to offer students an enriching and engaging summer experience that fosters increased school engagement, positive social, emotional, and academic growth, stronger relationships with peers and adults, and enhanced college and career readiness.

Chief of Office of Family and Community Advancement and Deputy Director of Expanded Learning and Opportunities
When you are hired to work at the 5th Quarter Summer Learning program, you are committing to the entire duration of the program. This means that your assignment may involve working at different sites, as staffing needs arise. Flexibility in location is an essential requirement of the position, should you be the successful candidate for this position and accept the job offer, you agree to be available for reassignment to various sites as needed throughout the program.

July 6th-August 7th, with July 6th being an on site professional development day
Hours:
6 hours/day for 25 days of programming
The in-person instructional hours for students in 5th Quarter Summer Learning Academies may vary by program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The 5th Quarter Summer Learning Academy Site Coordinator is responsible for planning, supervising and implementing this holistic model of summer learning and ensuring the program is inclusive to all students and families. The Site Coordinator will be responsible for managing and supporting staff, managing external community partners, program scheduling, room assignments, overseeing daily operations, addressing medical, behavioral, and other student needs, planning community events and field trips, and all other responsibilities pertaining to overseeing a complex, multifaceted summer program.
Site Coordinators will also be required to work prior to program launch in order to support program planning, teacher and student outreach, roster management, and other pre-program operations as needed.
Site Coordinators must be available to participate in planning and preparation activities immediately upon hiring.
Pre-Program Responsibilities (April-June)
* Attend regular meetings with 5th Quarter Operations team
* Provide regular communication to families regarding program activities and requirements
* Support efforts to recruit and enroll target number of students
* Prepare and manage curriculum materials, including pre-program set up and materials inventory
* Plan and facilitate staff professional development sessions relevant to program implementation
* Participate in the hiring of qualified teachers, paraprofessionals and support staff
* Manage summer program schedules and rosters for all staff and partners
Summer Program Responsibilities (July - August)
* Coordinate daily program logistics including but not limited to meal distribution, facilities use, transportation, technology, nursing, and custodial services
* Ensure consistent monitoring of student progress; oversee any performance task or assessment administered to students including administration of required evaluation protocols in collaboration with Boston After school and Beyond
* Support high-quality instruction by facilitating professional development and curriculum planning sessions, modeling instructional practices, and observing instruction and providing feedback for teachers, paraprofessionals, and program staff
* Understand and implement culturally and linguistically sustaining practices
* Engage and communicate with families as partners in planning and problem solving
* Establish a culturally competent, trauma sensitive learning climate
* Manage student data systems (e.g. attendance, schedules, etc.) and ensure timely and accurate daily reporting of attendance
* Coordinate with school nurse (if applicable) to manage student health needs
