Information Services Librarian Sargent Memorial Library | Town of Boxborough, Massachusetts

The Town of Boxborough is seeking an energetic and innovative Information Services Librarian to join the Sargent Memorial Library team.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape adult programming, expand community outreach, and enhance the Library’s digital presence in a welcoming and community-focused setting.
About the RoleUnder the direction of the Library Director, the Information Services Librarian provides professional library services with a strong focus on:
- Adult programming and community engagement
- Reference and readers’ advisory services
- Outreach and promotional initiatives
- Digital content creation and marketing
This position also supervises adult volunteers and plays a key role in maintaining the Library’s outreach calendar and promotional efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging adult programs aligned with the Library’s mission
- Support Youth Services promotional and outreach initiatives
- Develop and manage marketing content including newsletters, social media, website updates, and displays
- Provide thoughtful, user-centered reference and advisory services
- Participate in public service desk rotations
- Stay current with library trends and emerging technologies
- Required: Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution (or equivalent)
- Preferred: Public library experience
- Strong understanding of social media trends and digital engagement strategies
- Demonstrated digital content creation skills
- Knowledge of current library principles and services
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Creative problem-solving ability
- Positive attitude, cultural sensitivity, and strong interpersonal skills
30 hours per week
Includes at least one weeknight shift
Salary range: $29.68 – $40.91 per hour (14-step scale)
This is a benefited, non-exempt position
Work is performed in both office and public service areas of the Library. The environment is generally moderately noisy, with occasional higher noise levels during programs. The role involves regular computer use and light physical activity, including moving books and materials.
