Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This full-time position is for a Special Education Teacher with a focus on serving students in an intensive needs program. The role involves providing specialized instruction to students from PreK through grade 2 who have autism, developmental delays, and limited verbal communication skills. Candidates holding or pursuing BCBA credentials are encouraged to apply, as this is a key component of support within the program.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), utilizing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices, and adapting teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student. The successful candidate will have experience working with severe licensure populations and a strong understanding of strategies to support students with complex communication challenges.
Key qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts Special Education Teacher certification, appropriate for working with PreK-2 students
- Experience with autism spectrum disorders and developmental delays
- Proficiency with AAC devices and low-verbal communication techniques
- Ability to manage an intensive needs caseload effectively
- BCBA credential or willingness to pursue BCBA certification is a plus
