TheOpportunity
We are seeking a versatile and dynamic Social Studies teacher who can engage students across a range of abilities in rigorous scholarship. The role focuses on facilitating inquiry‑driven discussions, analyzing diverse sources, wrestling with complex historical and contemporary questions, and constructing evidence‑based arguments. The ideal teacher will guide students in connecting past and present, provide substantive feedback that deepens thinking, foster a culture that values intellectual risk‑taking, diverse perspectives, and confident engagement with ideas that matter.
WhatYou Will Do
Lead engaging class sessions and facilitate discussions that guide students through complex concepts at both foundational and advanced levels. Teach across traditional history courses and advanced electives, helping students make connections between past and present while developing evidence‑based arguments. Design inquiry‑based projects that cultivate research, writing, and critical thinking skills. Mentor students through one‑on‑one conferences and small‑group work, leveraging technology and AI tools to personalize learning.
Foster a classroom culture that encourages curiosity, intellectual risk‑taking, and respect for diverse perspectives, while building partnerships with students and families to support each learner’s development.
Educator with deep content knowledge across social studies disciplines, able to facilitate nuanced discussions on complex historical and contemporary topics with intellectual honesty. Skilled at guiding students to develop as writers and researchers, providing feedback that strengthens evidence‑based reasoning and critical thinking. Comfortable leading student‑driven inquiry, leveraging technology to support collaboration and agency. Takes ownership of student success and well‑being, understands the unique demands faced by student‑athletes and helps cultivate balance and resilience.
