A part‑time position (18.5 hours per week) for a Children's Librarian in the Children's Room at the Central Library.

• Collection development for print and non‑print materials for children’s services
• Programming and reference services for children
• Outreach and community engagement activities
• Assisting in developing and providing system‑wide children’s services

• Bachelor’s degree
• Completion of an American Library Association‑accredited Masters of Library Science (MLS);
  Candidates currently enrolled in an MLS program may also be considered
• Excellent customer service orientation
• A "turned outward" approach to community engagement
• Bilingual abilities desirable (English and Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Somali, Dari, or other community language)
• Residency in Springfield (new hires may establish residency within two years)

• Part‑time, 18.5 hours per week
• Annual salary $26,987.48 (plus optional overtime; Sunday hours paid at time and a half)
• Union position with a 2% raise effective July 1 2026
• 13 paid holidays (including Juneteenth)
