Overview
The Salvation Army's Children's Learning Center is hiring an Assistant Childcare Director and offers excellent benefit package to eligible employees including:

Pay Range: $55,000 - $65,000 per year
* starting pay varies depending on experience and qualifications
* Responsible for all aspects of The Salvation Army's Children's Learning Center when the Director is not present. Will be hands-on in the classroom and represent the Day Care Center when necessary. Sets the tone for the program, ensures that this program is of high quality, developmentally appropriate, and meets the needs of the children and families The Salvation Army serves.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Works in the Classroom to do the following:
* Work as a team to collaborate and communicate with parents, teachers, administration, and other employees at The Salvation Army. Attend and participate in all meetings.
* Develop, implement, and approve daily curriculum.
* Foster a nurturing atmosphere. Assure that a method of positive discipline is always used. Make sure that all aspects of the classroom are running smoothly, transitions, routines, nap time, health and safety procedures, etc.
* Complete progress reports for each child. Meet with parents to discuss their child's progress. Evaluate each child's needs and set appropriate goals. Complete daily journals for each child-a summary of how they were each day.
* Maintain a safe, stable, and loving environment. Make sure the classroom is clean; the materials are stocked.
* Observe the children to pick up on any developmental, emotional, or behavioral needs that might require special services or evaluation. Communicate with and brainstorm ideas with teachers and administration.
* Implement innovative ideas into the classrooms to improve the lives of the children we serve. Complete referrals when needed. Assist staff with the referral process.
* Supervise the volunteers, interns, and specialists in the classroom.
Assist the Director to do the following:
* Assumes responsibility to manage operation of the center in the Director's absence
* Support the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, development and supervision of staff.
* Assist the director with the daily operations of the program, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all children and staff. Ensure the facility is safe and well-stocked, including checking that safety equipment is available and working, removing hazards, and ensuring the facility is always clean, orderly, and in compliance with laws and regulations
* Provides orientation for new employees, volunteers, and interns.
* Manage daily classroom staffing and coverage needs. Ensure that child ratios are always met
* Supervise, evaluate, and act as a resource for subordinates. Complete employee observations and reviews, as delegated.
* Oversee and support teachers in the program in developing and implementing core and enrichment curriculum. creating engaging and effective explorations, lessons and activities. Ensure that lesson plans incorporate various learning styles and developmental needs, including language, cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
* Use your experience and expertise to support, empower, and assist others in becoming better educators. Be a resource to day care staff. Help them resolve issues that may arise.
