Summary

of Position

Milton Academy seeks an energetic and relationship‑oriented Annual Giving Officer (AGO) to help engage the school’s young alumni and students in the life of the Milton community and the culture of philanthropy that supports it. This role is ideal for an early‑career advancement professional interested in building experience in fundraising, volunteer management, and donor engagement within a highly collaborative advancement team.

The primary focus of the position (approximately 60%) is managing a portfolio of young alumni leadership prospects for the Milton Fund (approx. $250–$2,500 annually), and targeted young alumni volunteer campaigns. Through personal outreach, events, and volunteer partnerships, the AGO will help strengthen the donor pipeline and lifelong relationships between Milton and its youngest alumni (1–15 years post‑graduation).

The remaining 40% of the role focuses on student philanthropy including Senior Gift, Development Ambassadors, and leading educational programs that promote the value of the Milton Fund and the Milton alumni network.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• In conjunction with the Director of the Milton Fund, develop annual plans and campaign strategies specific to young alumni and students focused on encouraging increased donors and dollars to the Milton Fund.

• Maintain a portfolio of approximately 100 prospects annually in varied relationship stages including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

• Leverage face‑to‑face and virtual meetings, phone calls, emails, and texting to build relationships and increase young alumni donors to Milton’s annual leadership and loyal donor societies.

• Collaborate closely with the Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement to manage the execution of special student cultivation stewardship campaigns for donors, including recognition of loyalty, leadership, and volunteer service.

• Recruit and train both new and returning young alumni and student volunteers through a combination of face‑to‑face and virtual interactions. Young Alumni volunteers include Reunion Gift Campaigns (5th, 10th, and 15th), and Class Agents from all young alumni classes. Student volunteers include Senior Gift and Development Ambassadors.

• Set annual goals and develop strategic direction for volunteers to achieve those goals that add value and align with the Milton Fund’s mission. Provide timely training, ongoing support, consultation, and direction for volunteers (including schedules, Milton news, reports, donor lists, sample text, and toolkits).

• Develop and implement student philanthropy programming on campus to increase awareness about the impact of the Milton Fund and the value of philanthropy among Milton students. Programming includes Senior Gift, Development Ambassadors, and additional educational activities.

• Collaborate closely with Alumni Engagement colleagues to ensure a coordinated approach to young alumni fundraising and relational activities.

• Track and report to the Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement on assigned key performance indicator metrics for…
