Job DescriptionThe Worcester Public Schools is soliciting applications for an Innovation Pathways Specialist at North High School. This position is accountable for delivering a high-quality instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness, and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards, and the rules and regulations of the Worcester Public Schools, as well as the school-based coordination of the Innovation Pathways program.
Principal Innovation Pathways Program Responsibilities- Provide weekly updates on student performance to the Innovation Pathways Assistant Principal
- Conduct targeted recruitment activities in the school building for the Innovation Pathways Program
- Monitor attendance at after-school technical courses and work with students to eliminate barriers
- Serve as a liaison between Worcester Technical High School and North High School
- Reach out to core academic subject teachers to create linkages between pathways and the MassCORE
- Coordinate and conduct initiatives such as the annual career fair and exploratory field trips to create new initiatives
- Coordinate and arrange job interviews, job orientations, transportation, insurance, etc. between students and employers for Cooperative Education, apprenticeships, and related/unrelated employment
- Create and maintain a smooth and viable relationship between school, student, and employer through:
- Monitoring students
- Contacting employers frequently by phone or visits
- Recognizing employers’ needs and concerns
- Provide effective instruction, setting clear learning goals, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques in career and college preparedness
- Effectively manage the classroom environment
- Use innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including technologies, to increase student learning and confidence
- Promote equity and appreciation of diversity, including implementation of specific strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, or second language learners
- Assure equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, religion, gender identity, natural origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- MA DESE licensed at the high school level in core content area
- SEI endorsement
- Evidence of good human relations skills
- Evidence of educational leadership
- Familiarity working with businesses, consultants, resource personnel, community groups, etc.
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
- Ability to speak Spanish, Vietnamese, Albanian, Portuguese, Arabic, or an African language
- Salary: $61,410 to $113,833 per year, appropriate step on teachers’ salary schedule
