Eagle Hill School, an independent boarding school in Hardwick, Massachusetts, seeks a makerspace teacher for the school year. The successful candidate will hold a degree in fine arts, engineering, technology, or STEAM education and will be responsible for teaching classes in metalwork, resin, and three-dimensional design. The role requires a maker mindset and experience mentoring youth, with flexibility to participate in the school's academic, athletic, and co‑curricular activities.
Job Responsibilities- Use a variety of instructional strategies to motivate and inspire students in the creative arts.
- Ensure students have proper safety training for each area of the makerspace.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues about student progress.
- Engage in the boarding school community and co‑curricular programs, providing inspirational and innovative education in the classroom setting.
- Training in safety protocols for metalworking, the laser cutter, and woodworking, as well as familiarity with the appropriate PPE for each area.
- Proficiency with hand tools, forge, lasers.
- Ability to keep an organized and safe classroom workspace.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in fine arts, engineering, STEAM education, or technology.
- Support students and give constructive feedback to help foster their creativity.
- Lead and demonstrate interactive learning experiences that promote student participation and enthusiasm.
- Experience with 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC woodworking, metal working (MIG welding, propane forge, basic blacksmithing), silversmithing, sand casting, plasma cutting, and basic knowledge of carpentry, epoxy resin, Adobe Photoshop, and electrical soldering.
- At least one year of relevant experience preferred.
