Job Description
Starting Date: Immediately
Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. may vary to accommodate outside agencies, students, and their families.
Salary: $120,000 - $135,000 (Non-Union)
Report To: Office of Student Services, Building Principals
Qualifications- Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Education
- Five years of special education or related experience at the level
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification as an Administrator of Special Education
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of Woburn Public Schools Special Education Programs and services, including the Extended Year Special Education Program.
- Assist in development of new or expanded programs to meet evolving needs of special education students.
- Ensure compliance with special education services, addressing compliance issues, PRS complaints, and parent complaints.
- Support the Director of Student Services and principals with staffing challenges, scheduling, and placement of special education students.
- Ensure appropriate specialized curricula and coordinate required professional development for specialized curricula.
- Ensure all required procedures (paperwork, testing, meetings, progress reports) are followed by Team Chairs and Teachers per Special Education Regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date team chairs, program rosters, liaison caseloads, and related service provider caseloads.
- Oversee processes for students entering, leaving, or changing programs, and assist transportation scheduling, routes, and complaints.
- Assist Team Chairs and Teachers with complex team meetings for special education students and privately placed/parochial students.
- Monitor contentious cases, including those involving attorneys and advocates; assist with discipline issues and Manifestation Determination meetings.
- Inform leadership of complex student situations and assist with placement of move‑ins.
- Implement transition processes and planning across buildings, coordinating elementary to middle and middle to high school transitions with team chairs and administrators.
- Plan and conduct professional development for special education staff, including instructional assistants, in partnership with building principals.
- Hold department meetings with Team Chairs, Teachers, service providers, and designated SISPs.
- Supervise, observe, and evaluate special education staff and related service providers; mentor new staff.
- Oversee initial and re‑evaluation processes, ensure updated testing materials, and produce comprehensive reports; assist with inventory and ordering of assessment materials and instructional tools.
- Collaborate with outside agencies (DCF, DDS, DMH) and providers for complex and homeless students.
- Collaborate with SEPAC and attend meetings; facilitate positive community engagement.
- Monitor compliance with federal and state regulations regarding referrals, reevaluations, team meetings, IEPs, program monitoring (state indicators), Integrated Monitoring Review, Medicaid, and circuit breaker filings.
- Collaborate with fellow Student Services Coordinators for consistent protocols and continuum of services across district.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Senior Leadership.
