Behavioral Para educator

Starting Date: Aug 31, 2026

Job Overview: Paraprofessionals assigned to Special Education Programs with intensive needs will be eligible for an annual pay differential of $2000 additional annual salary distributed to the hourly rate of the salary placement of the individual. To be eligible, staff will complete district funded RBT training (40 hours asynchronous class with BCBA oversight) within the directed timeframe, possibly using full day or early release PD time.

Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for the direct implementation of treatment plans related to skill acquisition and behavior reduction.
  • Assist in delivering behavior-analytic services and practice under the direction and close supervision of a BCBA.
  • Collaborate with team members to determine necessary modifications, accommodations, and assessment approaches to allow students to succeed.
  • Support students in an academic environment and implement and oversee student behavior plans.
  • Collect data across different skills and behaviors on a daily basis.
  • Promote generalization of students’ acquired skills.
  • Assist the BCBA in implementing behavioral programming.
  • Create an environment conducive to student learning.
  • Direct and assist with toileting and toilet training as it pertains to individual students’ needs.
  • Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate opportunities for learning using the MTSS framework.
  • Meet and instruct assigned students in the locations and at the time designated.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum standards and establish clear objectives that reflect these standards.
  • Implement the district's mission, philosophy of education, and instructional standards and objectives.
  • Document students’ progress and/or concerns and seek assistance from additional district specialists as required.
  • Monitor and supervise students through effective classroom management.
  • Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
  • Use innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including effective use of technology, to increase student learning and confidence.
  • Follow professional practices consistent with district policies when working with students, parents, and colleagues; attend faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities as per school policy.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence through attending professional development events and self-generated activities that meet district expectations and recertification requirements.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence related to specific assignments and student grade/subject area appropriateness.
  • Maintain open communication lines with students, colleagues, and parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
  • Promote equity and appreciate diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for learning, implementing strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, and/or English Learners.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the building principal or Director of Student Services.
