Job DescriptionThe Ashburnham-Westminster Regional School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Middle School Science Teacher for the start of the 2026–2027 school year through mid-November 2026. This position is responsible for providing high-quality science instruction during an extended teacher absence while maintaining continuity of learning and supporting student achievement.

Essential Responsibilities- Plan and deliver rigorous science instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Curriculum Frameworks.
- Develop engaging lessons that incorporate inquiry, experimentation, engineering design, and real-world problem-solving.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social-emotional, and learning needs of all students.
- Utilize data-driven instructional practices to monitor progress and improve student achievement.
- Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance learning and support responsible use of resources.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that reflects the district's commitment to equity and belonging.
- Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative measures and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues, special education staff, interventionists, and administrators to support student success.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and caregivers regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
- Participate in professional learning opportunities, faculty meetings, curriculum development, and school improvement initiatives.
- Support school-wide programs and activities that promote positive school culture and community engagement.
- Experience teaching science at the middle school level preferred but not required.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate middle school learners.
- CORI and fingerprinting background checks required.
- Candidates must be a collaborative person who enjoys working with a strong team focused on open communication and high expectations.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
