Position: Mountain Biking Specialist, Camp Grossman, Summer Day Camp 2026
Location: Dover

Job Summary

Camp Grossman is hiring a Mountain Biking Specialist to lead off‑road adventure programming for campers at our outdoor camp in Dover, MA.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead engaging, age‑appropriate mountain biking sessions, from basic balance and braking to trail navigation and technical skills.
  • Maintain the “bike shop,” performing basic repairs, tire pressure checks, and ensuring helmets and bikes are safe.
  • Guide riders along miles of trails with a constant focus on safety, trail etiquette, and appropriate skill levels.
  • Organize, manage, and maintain all equipment and supplies, monitoring safety and readiness.
  • Coordinate with the Program Director to order supplies, restock during summer operations, and complete end‑of‑season inventories.
  • Join staff in the parking lot to assist with safe arrival and departure of campers.
  • May plan and lead an activity or help with a cookout, one or two evenings, after regular camp hours during the summer.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Provide direction, guidance, mentorship, feedback, and supervision to assistant(s) as needed.
  • Create an environment where employees can achieve individual goals.
  • Build and maintain a positive working relationship to support professional growth.
  • Write and conduct a mid‑summer evaluation of assistant(s), providing concrete suggestions for improvement.
  • Write and conduct an end‑of‑summer evaluation of assistant(s) and recommend re‑hire.
  • Uphold organizational policies and report related issues to the Specialist Supervisor or Program Director.
Job Details

Location:

Dover, MA.
Regular camp day: 8:30 – 4:00, Monday‑Friday, for the camp season. Specialists are expected to attend four staff meetings on Monday afternoons and/or evenings. They also work a Sunday Family Day on Sunday, July 26, and/or one or two evenings (dinner provided) over the summer.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive starting pay rate of $16 per hour, determined by qualifications and internal equity. Benefits include:

• Free or discounted Camp Grossman enrollment for employees’ children during the weeks worked.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school graduation strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading children in a subject area is a plus.
  • Experience working in and/or attending summer camp is a plus.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at agency discretion.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work in‑person on‑site in Dover, MA.
  • Must navigate 70 acres of rugged, uneven terrain independently.
  • Comfortable working outdoors or indoors without air conditioning.
  • Able to work well in a busy, dynamic, sometimes noisy environment.
  • Able to lift and carry objects up to 30–40 pounds.
  • Able to sit, kneel, and get down at eye level with children regularly.
