Job DescriptionThe Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for providing consistent, high-quality instruction and maintaining a nurturing, structured classroom environment. The kindergarten teacher will implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, support the social-emotional and academic growth of young learners, and collaborate with school staff to ensure learning.
To establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation as outlined in the Massachusetts frameworks and, in accordance with each pupil’s ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
Performance Responsibilities- Oversees personnel as designated by the Principal or the Superintendent.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school.
- Uses lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils’ progress and interpret the school’s program.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
- Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the school testing program.
- Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
- Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
- Acts as Mandated Reporter (Chapter 119, Section 51A).
- Complies with the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Policy.
- Ability to work as a team.
- Has a sense of humor.
- Any other duties may be assigned by Administration.

- Required:
Bachelor’s Degree. - Department of Education License as an Early Childhood teacher (PreK-2).
- MA DESE Certified Acceptable C.O.R.I., S.O.R.I, DCF and fingerprint report as determined by the Superintendent.
- Prior experience working with children at the appropriate level for the position.
- Competency in use of current related educational technology.
- Preferred:
Master’s Degree.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with faculty and parents/guardians to promote the educational development of students; interact respectfully with teachers, parents, students and community members to promote a positive view of the school; respond appropriately to criticism from parents/guardians; and work as a member of a team to promote the mission and goals of the school.
- Physical Requirements:
Moderate walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs and step stool, moderate physical exertion (reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, pulling), lifting 20 pounds frequently and occasionally over 20 pounds, fine manipulation with computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines. - Environmental Conditions:
