Position: 1.0 Science Teacher
Location: West Newbury

MSHS Science Teacher

The Middle High School Science Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering effective science instruction to students primarily in grades 7-8 with the possibility of teaching in grades 9–12. The teacher will foster a positive learning environment that supports critical thinking, problem-solving, and mastery of science concepts.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field.
  • Possession of a science teaching license through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education at the middle and/or high school level.
  • SEI Endorsement.
  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with data-driven instruction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.) and fingerprint check.

    Building Principal

    Work Year: 184 days (school year)

    Salary/Benefits:
    Per the negotiated PAT contract

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with state and district science standards.
    • Teach science concepts appropriate to the grade level, including topics in physical science, earth science, life science, and technology/engineering.
    • Use a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
    • Assess student understanding regularly through quizzes, tests, projects, and formative assessments.
    • Provide timely feedback and support to help students improve their mathematical skills.
    • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, including those with IEPs or English language learners.
    • Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and student engagement.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and communication.
    • Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and families to support student success.
    • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and curriculum planning.

    Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Ability to work in a normal classroom, office and school building environment.
  • Ability to move freely about the building to perform duties with staff.
  • Ability to utilize computers and other administrative technologies appropriate to the position.
