Manager, College Services (Springfield, MA)
The College Services Manager is a critical member of the Phoenix school-based team. This role is key in facilitating a robust college services program that supports scholar growth and access to opportunity as they progress through college. The manager will collaborate with staff and administration to provide programming that increases awareness and participation in college readiness, access, and persistence.
Basic College Office Duties- Assist and track all near graduates in college applications, financial aid, registration, and other necessary steps (FAFSA, EITC, etc.).
- Track and document the academic progress of scholars nearing graduation and, with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, arrange for support when necessary.
- Maintain weekly communication with adult supporters of the senior class.
- Maintain regular communication with outside agencies, colleges, and other parties involved in the lives of graduating scholars and alumni.
- Plan and host senior engagement events.
- Maintain regular communication with teachers of seniors.
- Assist the Leadership Team in planning graduation events and senior activities, including but not limited to Prom, Student Events Committee, Senior Trip, Senior banquet, Senior Meetings, Adult Support Meetings.
- Assist the Leadership Team in implementing 1, 3, 5 year vision for College Office and services at Phoenix Academy.
- Uphold Phoenix Handbook and culture expectations.
- Hold weekly collaborations with College Services team including Fellows/grad coaches.
- Manage and support College Office Fellow(s) responsible for implementing college visits and presentations on and off campus.
- Meeting with every non-senior to inform and pre‑plan toward college readiness.
- Assist all graduates in matriculation including filling out paperwork, financial aid, registration, and attending necessary orientations.
- Alumni outreach and tracking: follow each alumnus and track contact information and education/career placements.
- Maintain digital and hard‑copy system of tracking and files.
- Provide Head of School with bi‑weekly updates on each alumnus for the most recently graduated class.
- Provide on‑campus support to alumni and assist in connecting to any necessary services.
- Assist the Leadership Team in planning Alumni Events.
- Create and distribute Alumni Survey aimed at improving college readiness at Phoenix Academy.
- Be knowledgeable of all work to vertically align scholarly habits to ensure greater college persistence (increase college persistence by 10%); be knowledgeable of accountability plan college persistence goals.
- Develop relationships with local colleges to create a pipeline of support for scholars; meet with admissions officers from each school.
- Meet with members of ILT and other teachers to help improve college readiness.
- Learn to support staff in the SSC and cover (with stipend) when necessary.
- Be present at weekly Professional Development (Fridays) when relevant/determined by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
- Meet weekly with the Director of School Culture for supervisory meeting.
- Massachusetts licensure and/or master’s degree in Education/Guidance Counseling highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Massachusetts curriculum and requirements for high school graduation/college acceptance highly preferred.
- 1+ year of direct student‑serving experience (teaching, tutoring, academic support, etc.) preferred.
- Bilingual/multilingual (especially Spanish‑speaking) candidates highly encouraged.
