OverviewThe Spanish Immersion Teacher will plan, implement, and assess lessons that promote bilingualism and global citizenship. You will create a classroom environment that supports all learners, integrates technology, and fosters engagement.
Responsibilities- Plan sequential units, lessons, and learning activities based on content standards to advance students’ content knowledge.
- Develop lessons with clear objectives and measurable outcomes.
- Use Individual Education Programs to support students with disabilities in general education settings.
- Incorporate appropriate technology and media into lesson plans.
- Communicate high standards and expectations at the beginning, during, and after each lesson, and evaluate student learning.
- Create a conducive learning environment and maintain behavior standards, mutual respect, and safety.
- Manage classroom routines and procedures with minimal instructional time loss.
- Promote achievement for all students.
- Understand legal and moral responsibilities, including Chapter 51A and responsible use of internet resources.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve instruction, assessment, and student achievement.
- Engage parents in their child’s academic activities and communicate clearly.
- Reflect critically on teaching practice and identify professional development needs.
- Native or near‑native proficiency in Spanish (speaking, reading, writing, listening) and high proficiency in English.
- Familiarity with immersion pedagogy and programming.
- Ability to meet contractual requirements, including required meetings.
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree (preferred); teaching or related experience.
- Possession of a master’s degree preferred by the Superintendent.
- Citizenship, residency, or valid work visa.
- License or waiver in the appropriate area of elementary education issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- SEI endorsement preferred.
- ESL licensure and/or demonstrated proficiency in languages other than English and Spanish encouraged.
Position Type: Full-time
Salary: $61,520 to $73,869 per year, commiserated with experience.
