The Arts and Communication Department of Cape Cod Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty member position to begin in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027. The successful candidate will be a communication studies generalist who will teach, develop curriculum, and advise students with concentrations in communication or media studies.
Examples of Duties
Teach the equivalent of five (5) sections each semester from the Department's communication and media studies offerings.Serve as academic advisor to approximately 18 students.Hold a minimum of four (4) office hours per week.Serve on Department and College Committees.Actively participate in department evaluation, development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum.Attend and participate in department, division, and college meetings.Participate in the development of articulation agreements.Maintain professional growth.Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes at the course, discipline, program and college level.Use college-provided technology tools such as email, learning management systems, and advising software.Requirements
Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in communication studies from an accredited institution.Comprehensive knowledge of and expertise in one or more of the following areas: interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, or social media communication.Prior experience teaching an undergraduate introductory communication class.Demonstrated interest in college level teaching of communication courses at a community college.Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic teaching/learning community that requires flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork.Record of excellence in teaching, curriculum and program development, outcomes assessment, and maintaining a learner-centered environment.Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in curriculum development, assessment of student learning and instructional strategies that include experiential learning and integration of technology in face-to-face and online formats.Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues from multiple disciplines in a variety of academic, professional, and community settings.Familiarity with professional academic organizations in communication, humanities, and/or social sciences.Competency using learning management systems.Effective pedagogical, teaching, and presentation skills.Ability to meet the challenges of providing support to students with diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds.Demonstrated commitment to current assessment practices, especially given the influence of AI on higher education.Strong oral and written communication skills.Additional
Preferred Qualifications Experience with, appreciation for, and commitment to working in a global, multi-cultural academic setting.Experience with the integration of technology and alternative delivery systems of instruction in the teaching-learning process.Knowledge of social media algorithms and analytics.Community college teaching experience.Earned doctoral degree.Equivalency Statement

Compensation
Full-time, tenure-track, MCCC Unit position with an anticipated Annual Salary Range of $57,289 - $68,493. Actual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, determined by a formula-based classification system, consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program including option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
