Preschool Coordinator
The Preschool Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of the district's integrated preschool program at Sweetsir School. This role ensures high-quality educational programming, compliance with special education regulations, and strong collaboration with families, Early Intervention providers, and community agencies. The Preschool Coordinator facilitates all preschool IEP meetings and supports smooth transitions for students entering preschool services.
Required:
- Degree in Leadership, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Massachusetts licensure in Early Childhood, Administration and/or Special Education
- Knowledge of IDEA and Massachusetts special education regulations
- Experience working with preschool-aged children, families, and interdisciplinary teams
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Education or related field
- Experience facilitating IEP meetings
- Experience collaborating with Early Intervention and community agencies
- Leadership or coordination experience in an early childhood or special education setting
Reports to:
Director of Student Services/Building Principal
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the District's preschool programming, including general education, extended day, and special education preschool services. Responsibilities also include financial organization and oversight, such as monitoring program expenditures, coordinating and verifying billing for preschool-related services, ensuring accurate documentation to support billing and reimbursement, and collaborating with district administration and business office staff to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Coordinate and collaborate with Early Intervention (EI) providers, service coordinators, and families to support smooth transitions from EI to preschool.
- Serve as the primary liaison with outside agencies, including Early Intervention, community-based providers, related service agencies, and other communication partners.
- Facilitate and chair all preschool IEP meetings, ensuring compliance with state and federal special education regulations.
- Coordinate evaluations, eligibility determinations, placement decisions, and service delivery for preschool students.
- Monitor student progress and program effectiveness; collaborate with staff to address student needs and program adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, Massachusetts special education regulations, early education indicators and district policies.
- Support family communication, engagement, and understanding of preschool programming and special education processes.
- Collaborate with building administration and the Student Services Department to align preschool services with district goals.
Staff Support, Scheduling, and Program Operations:
- Support and collaborate with preschool teaching staff, related service providers, and paraprofessionals.
- Collaborate with building administration regarding staff scheduling, classroom assignments, and service delivery coordination.
- Support implementation of developmentally appropriate practices and inclusive preschool programming.
- Participate in problem-solving related to student behavior, attendance, and program logistics.
- Coordinate classroom needs, materials, and space utilization.
Family Communication and Community Engagement:
- Serve as a point of contact for preschool families regarding programming, transitions, and services.
- Provide information and guidance to families regarding preschool options, special education processes, and community resources.
- Participate in meetings and outreach efforts related to early childhood services within the district and community.
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Participate in professional development related to early childhood education and special education.
- Attend meetings as required by the Director of Student Services and Principal.
- Conduct teacher/paraprofessional evaluations in collaboration with other administration Perform other related duties consistent with the role of Preschool Coordinator.
Work Year:
School Year, 1.0 FTE (exact schedule to be determined by district needs in consultation with the Director of Student Services)
