High School Dean Of Students
You believe in creating an educational experience where students are able to see themselves reflected in the content of your class.
Supporting the Dean's Office
- Serving as the point person for student culture and discipline, in collaboration with other members of the High School Leadership Team
- Running an effective and accountable High School Dean's Office at all times, including monitoring, tracking students' growth and behavior.
- Assisting teachers, students, school counselors, and families in the effective creation and implementation of individual behavior plans that enable students to successfully meet and exceed the school's expectations
- Leading staff efforts to ensure all students have excellent attendance, arrive at school on time prepared to learn, are in the school uniform arrive to individual classes on time
- Analyzing student behavior and culture data to support individual student, grade level, and school-wide goals
- Collaborating and communicating daily with teachers and staff to meet students' needs
- As required, conduct investigations of items related to the Code of Conduct, up to and including those that may require suspension. Partner with school leaders where appropriate and manage all communication and follow-ups with students, faculty, and families including required documentation
- Lead disciplinary hearings and all related communication as necessary
Building of School Culture
- Maintain a strong presence throughout the school day in classrooms, hallways, common spaces, arrival, lunch, dismissal, and transitions.
- Ensure school wide expectations for student behavior are consistently upheld.
- Communicate regularly via public spaces emphasizing the importance of our mission, virtues and school priorities
- Participate in school leadership team meetings to ensure alignment on cultural goals and norms
- Review multiple pieces of data, including attendance, behavioral, and academic data, and lead in development strategies and supports for students who are struggling in classes or during unstructured times, i.e behavioral plans
- Support Grade Level Leads in the planning and execution of weekly grade-level team meetings
- Monitors and improves, as necessary, the systems and routines for students. (i.e.
-arrival, dismissal, transitions, lunch, etc.) - Be highly present and visible during school hours, 7:15am-4:15 pm
- Model urgency, consistency, and a belief that every minute of learning matters.
Classroom Culture, Student Relationships, and Family Partnership
- Build strong relationships with students to promote confidence and engagement in mathematics instruction.
- Communicate regularly with families about academic progress and intervention goals.
- Provide families with strategies to support reading development at home.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student growth.
- Model empathy and maintain high expectations for all learners.
- Participate in family conferences, school events, and community engagement activities.
Collaboration and School Culture
- Attend and participate in weekly staff professional development, including One Team meetings, department meetings, and grade-level meetings.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and school leadership.
- Contribute positively to Boston Prep's collaborative and mission-driven school culture.
- Support school systems and structures with fidelity.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives that strengthen student success.
Additional Expectations and Responsibilities:
- Additional responsibilities, including but not limited to, may involve tasks such as supervising lunch periods, managing swipe and front desk duties, and covering classes in the absence of other staff members.
- Demonstrates flexibility and a commitment to the school's mission by undertaking additional responsibilities and contributing to school-wide initiatives as needed, even when not explicitly outlined in the job description, to support the overall success of the school community.
Maintenance of Organizational Culture:
- Establishing a professional rapport and strong relationship with students, staff, and families, including communicating and meeting with families on a regular basis
- Displaying the highest ethical and professional behavior when working with students, families, and staff
- Supporting the effective implementation of school culture systems, including detention
- Actively engaging in one's learning; seeking and acting on feedback regularly
- Actively pursuing professional development, inside and outside of the school, including attending weekly school wide professional development
- Collaborating with other teachers and administrators to advance the school's mission
Education, Qualifications, and Certifications/Licensure:

Compensation:
