Inly School is an independent PreK–8 Montessori‑plus School located in Scituate, MA serving over 300 students from 20 South Shore communities. We are deeply rooted in Montessori, child‑centered, and inclusive educational practices, and we commit to anti‑racist and anti‑bias teaching.
OverviewInly seeks a highly skilled Upper School Learning Specialist to support the social and emotional well‑being of students in grades 4–8. The role involves direct student support, collaboration with teachers, and professional development for faculty.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group intervention instruction and reinforcement of foundational skills for students with a wide range of learning disabilities.
- Help students identify strategies and tools that best support their individual learning styles and application of learned skills to classroom curricula.
- Collaborate with the Learning Services Team to create Individual Accommodation Plans for students with diagnosed learning disabilities.
- Support classroom teachers in differentiating existing curricula and teaching methods.
- Administer benchmark assessments to monitor student progress.
- Review neuropsychological reports and work with teachers and the Learning Services Team to implement recommendations.
- Observe students in the classroom to develop support plans in partnership with teachers, families, and division directors.
- Communicate effectively with families, classroom teachers, and the Learning Services Team about student needs and progress.
- Attend parent‑teacher conferences for students receiving Learning Services support.
- Participate in weekly Learning Services Team meetings and Upper Elementary and Middle School Level Team Meetings.
- Engage with local public districts for students with active IEPs and/or those under evaluation.
- Document evaluations of students by outside providers.
- Provide professional development to faculty and staff on teaching students with learning disabilities.
- Design and deliver parent education workshops.
- Proven caring approach with strong skills in supporting students, families, and school community.
- High cultural competency and racial literacy with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Team‑oriented style characterized by empathy, flexibility, patience, and positive collaborative energy.

- Enjoyment of working with children, enthusiasm for all aspects of school life, warmth, sense of humor, patience, and curiosity.
- Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills; proficiency in engaging effectively with various constituencies.
- Comfort and experience presenting to small and large groups.
- Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Elementary and/or Middle School Education and/or Special Education; specialized training/certifications such as Wilson, Orton‑Gillingham preferred.
- At least 3–5 years of school‑based experience teaching students with a variety of learning profiles, including language‑based learning disabilities, dyscalculia, autism, ADHD, or executive functioning vulnerabilities.
- Ability and willingness to learn Montessori philosophy and methods.
- Strong collaborative spirit and desire to contribute to a progressive, inclusive environment.
- Commitment to anti‑bias education and creating a welcoming, inclusive classroom community.
- Clear and effective communication with staff, students, and parents.
- Inclusivity and support, including reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities, subject to no undue hardship.
- Balance between stationary and active engagement within the school environment.
- Ability to move throughout the 13‑acre campus to access and utilize various resources.
- Adaptability to evolving responsibilities as the school grows, with flexibility and willingness to adapt.
Annualized salary range for this part‑time, 20‑hour per week position is $35,000–$45,000, commensurate with experience. This position is ineligible for benefits.
