Grade 5
REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal
The classroom teacher is responsible for delivering a high quality instructional experience consistent with the curriculum standards of the school district. Essential duties for all faculty members include classroom instruction, conferences with students, parents and colleagues, and active participation in the department’s work on curriculum development, activities, and pedagogy.
Qualifications- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license in specific subject area(s)
- Provides learning experiences in the subject area, guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards and requirements, while creating an environment conducive to student learning.
- Maintains classroom management.
- Promotes high standards and expectations for student achievement.
- Uses innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including effective use of technology, to increase student learning and confidence.
- Follows professional practices consistent with the district’s policies in working with students, parents and colleagues.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy.
- Maintains and improves professional competence through attendance at professional development events and self-generated activities that meet district expectations and re-certification requirements.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned by the building principal or assistant principal.
Working in a school setting. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy indoor environment with work inside about 85% of the time and work outside about 15% of the schedule. Ability to stand, sit, squat, or kneel for extended periods of time. Performs other duties as assigned.
WORK YEAR: 184 days
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT / SALARY: As negotiated by the North Andover School Committee and the North Andover Teachers Association.
Position Type: Full-time
Salary: $58,138 to $72,858 per year
