Position Summary
To provide direct instruction to students and support academic and non‑academic development in alignment with Framingham Public Schools’ high expectations, to close achievement gaps, and to support the whole child within the district curriculum.
Responsibilities- Plan a comprehensive program of study, develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with district and school goals.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives; employ appropriate instructional methods and materials that facilitate active learning and differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
- Deliver instructional content, manage classroom behavior, implement discipline and routine procedures, and create an inclusive, equitable learning environment.
- Assess student progress regularly, assign grades, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate records in compliance with laws and district policies.
- Use technology to support instruction and differentiate learning, providing varied instructional resources.
- Consult consistently with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders; communicate necessary information regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in department, school, and district meetings; assist administration with implementing policies that govern student life and conduct.
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse backgrounds, and participate in professional development activities.
- Support extracurricular activities and any additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in an approved field of study.
- Valid Massachusetts teaching license in the appropriate content area is preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional literature and regulations.
- Sound reasoning and problem‑solving skills; ability to use evidence‑based research to inform instructional decisions.
- Capability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills; ability to prioritize tasks independently.
- Commitment to district policies, state and federal laws, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated cultural proficiency and competence working with diverse populations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student data and sensitive information.
- Professional demeanor and composure in challenging situations.
- Proficiency with technology and willingness to learn new tools (e.g., Google Workspace for Education).
- Experience evaluating student skills, interpreting assessment data, and writing concise reports.
- Collaborative instructional and leadership skills for supporting student programs.
- Data‑driven instructional decision making to improve outcomes.
- Knowledge of specialized content areas, laws, and procedures relevant to teaching Spanish.
- Ability to plan and implement lessons that align with district and school goals.
- Proficiency integrating instructional technology to enhance learning.
- Proactive, reflective, and solution‑focused approach to student growth.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Move throughout the school building and remain stationary for periods.
- Reach, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
- Lift up to 20 lb (books, supplies).
- Use hands for tasks and operate a computer.
- Communicate effectively in person, via email, and telephone.
- See, hear continuously to ensure student safety.
- Assist students with physical difficulties.
- Move quickly across uneven surfaces; interact with multiple stakeholders.
- Occasional outdoor work for recess and special activities.
- Potential exposure to bodily fluids, disease, or pathogens; possible injuries from aggressive students.
