SummaryCape Cod Academy seeks an enthusiastic and engaging educator to teach Chemistry in the Upper School. The ideal candidate fosters curiosity, encourages thoughtful problem‑solving, and builds meaningful relationships with students while contributing positively to a collaborative school community.
Responsibilities- Enthusiasm, flexibility, and a desire to collaborate with colleagues on a grade level, department level, and across disciplines.
- Teach 2–3 upper‑school Chemistry courses, including laboratory instruction.
- Design engaging lessons that promote scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and real‑world application.
- Communicate with parents to provide timely and appropriate feedback regarding student progress.
- Create and maintain a safe, organized laboratory environment following established safety protocols.
- Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative methods and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Participate in department meetings, professional development, and selected school events as appropriate for a part‑time faculty member.
- Model flexibility in implementing best learning practices and pursuing success for each student.
- Demonstrate a high degree of cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations.
- Show fluency with academic technology that advances learning and integrate technology into classroom experiences.
- Collaborate with colleagues within and across subject areas and participate in all aspects of school life.
- Invest in the community and participate in the lives of students outside the classroom.
- Convey patience and empathy with students.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Be self‑reflective, work independently, and commit to professional learning and growth.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field (teacher certification not required).
- At least two years of relevant teaching experience preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work‑visa status required.
- Experience with students from diverse backgrounds is highly valued.
