The School of Medical Imaging and Therapeutics seeks an adjunct faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences and education for students in the BS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Echocardiography. The selected candidate will have responsibilities teaching classroom and distance education to undergraduate courses. Subject matters may include echocardiography physics and instrumentation.
- Delivers laboratory education in an in‑person format in the BS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Echocardiography Lab for advanced cardiac sonography applications.
- Integrates the theory and principles of echocardiography with the practice and imaging applications.
- Provides students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria.
- Provides engaging assignments that demonstrate real‑world applications of concepts covered.
- Supports incorporation of diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculum, as well as co‑curricular experiences.
- Uses the university’s learning management system to post syllabi, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students.
- Advises and assists students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by video conference, phone or email, and through other university‑approved mechanisms.
- Provides service including student mentoring, ongoing course development and assessment.
- A bachelor’s degree (BS or BA); a master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of work experience in clinical echocardiography.
- Teaching experience at the college/university level preferred.
- ARDMS certification in echocardiography or equivalent.
- Commitment to undergraduate, graduate and/or professional education and student success.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels.
