The Public Schools of Dover and Sherborn seek an innovative instructional leader committed to academic excellence, educational equity, and the social‑emotional wellness of students and staff.

Under the direction of the Superintendent the Assistant Superintendent is responsible for providing leadership in developing, implementing and evaluating the District’s curricular and instructional programs. The Assistant Superintendent also works closely with the Superintendent on policy development as well as establishing and executing plans for the improvement of the system’s programs and services.

The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for the District in the absence of the Superintendent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supports central office, system‑wide, and school‑based staff in the continued implementation of a high‑quality, educationally sound K‑12 instructional program, ensuring continuity during the interim period.
  • Assists in the annual review and ongoing refinement of curricular, instructional, and assessment materials to maintain alignment with district priorities and state expectations.
  • Provides differentiated supports and structures to address the diverse academic, social‑emotional, and mental health needs of students, in collaboration with district and school‑based teams.
  • Serves as a member of the central office leadership team, supporting the interpretation and implementation of district, state, and School Committee policies, and assisting with continuity of operations and initiatives already underway.
  • Conducts educator and administrator evaluations as assigned by the Superintendent, ensuring fair, consistent, and standards‑based evaluation practices.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations and communicates clearly about instructional programs and district initiatives to staff, School Committee, and community stakeholders; assists in the preparation of reports, memos, and communications to ensure clarity and continuity.
  • Provides guidance and support to principals, curriculum leaders/department chairs, and administrators to ensure alignment and stability in instructional leadership practices.
  • Supports ongoing professional development for educators and administrators in curriculum, instructional strategies, assessment, and technology integration.
  • Assists the Superintendent and other administrators in recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and retention processes as needed during the interim period.
  • Coordinates and supports the district’s Mentor/Induction Program to ensure continuity of support for new educators.
  • Collaborates with the METCO Director to support an inclusive, equitable, and anti‑racist educational experience for students.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of Technology to support instructional technology integration aligned with district priorities.
  • Oversees compliance‑related responsibilities for the English Language Learner (ELL) program, ensuring adherence to federal and state requirements, including SEI‑related standards and teacher qualifications.
  • Coordinates home education programs in accordance with district and state requirements.
  • Participates in the development of the annual budget process and supports fiscal planning aligned to instructional priorities across the district.
  • Assists in the preparation, submission, and monitoring of federal and state entitlement and competitive grants, ensuring continuity of existing funding streams.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent in support of district operations and continuity during the interim appointment.
