The Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for a tenure‑track position in Statistics, beginning fall 2025, at the rank of assistant professor.
We seek candidates who demonstrate excellence in teaching students from diverse backgrounds and possess a strong research program that engages undergraduate students.
Teaching Responsibilities- Teach two courses per semester and a winter term course every other January.
- Provide instruction in introductory statistics, core courses for the statistics major, and electives in your area of expertise.
- Advise student colloquia and mentor senior thesis students.
Establish an independent research program that results in scholarly publications. Positions include support for faculty teaching and scholarship, a shared computer cluster, a new teaching center, a grants office, a professional development fund, and internal research funding opportunities.
Qualifications- Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
- Evidence or promise of excellence in teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
- Research program that engages undergraduate students.
- Strong record or potential for scholarly publication.
- Submit a cover letter addressed to the Statistics Hiring Chair, a curriculum vitae, a teaching statement, and a research statement.
- Provide three letters of recommendation, at least one commenting on teaching experience or potential.
