Opportunity

At MAI, the high school science program offers rigorous courses in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at standard and advanced levels. We seek a versatile science educator who can teach across these disciplines, bringing deep content knowledge and a love of scientific inquiry to multiple courses. Depending on enrollment and expertise, teaching assignment may include Physics, Chemistry, and/or Biology, covering topics such as kinematics, Newton’s laws, wave mechanics, electricity, magnetism, fundamentals of quantum mechanics, atomic structure, chemical bonding, thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, principles of organic chemistry, cellular processes, genetics, evolution, ecology, and human body systems.

Weekly projects foster experimentation, problem-solving, and real-world application. The teacher will lead discussions, provide detailed feedback on student work, and inspire students to deepen their understanding while developing their scientific voice. The ideal candidate has strong content knowledge in multiple science disciplines and the versatility to teach advanced-level courses as needed, while nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for science in every student.

What

You Will Do

As a science teacher at MAI, you will:

  • Lead class sessions and facilitate scientific discussions.
  • Guide students through complex concepts at foundational and advanced levels.
  • Foster students’ growth as independent scientific thinkers who can articulate ideas, design meaningful experiments, and apply knowledge to real-world challenges.
  • Provide thorough feedback on projects and experiments to support reasoning and personal growth.
  • Mentor students through one-on-one conferences and small-group work to deepen understanding and nurture their scientific voice.
  • Leverage technology and AI tools to personalize learning and enhance experimental and analytical capabilities.
  • Cultivate a classroom culture of curiosity, intellectual risk-taking, and respect for diverse perspectives.
  • Build partnerships with students and families through proactive communication to support each learner’s development.
Who You Are
  • The ideal candidate has several years of experience teaching high school science across multiple disciplines with deep content knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and/or Biology.
  • Skilled at facilitating meaningful scientific discussions and providing constructive feedback that guides iterative problem-solving.
  • Comfortable guiding student-driven inquiry while using technology to support collaboration and student agency.
  • Understanding of the demands facing student-athletes, with the ability to help them develop balance and resilience.
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility for student success and well-being; collaborative, curious, and growth-minded.
  • Committed to lifelong learning, innovation, sound judgment, adaptability, and prioritization in changing environments.
  • View facilitation and scaffolding as core teaching practices to guide inquiry and enhance collaboration.
