Job Description

Provide instruction to students in English Composition course(s) during the Fall 2026 semester (September 2, 2026 - December 30, 2026). The instructor will teach one or more of the following courses:
English Composition I (ENL
101)
;
English Composition II (ENL
102)
; and/or Critical Reading and Thinking (ENL
108)
. These courses are entry‑level college composition courses designed to strengthen students' reading, writing, critical thinking, and research skills.

Examples of Duties
  • Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes.
  • Select and develop appropriate materials for class use.
  • Track and assess student progress.
  • Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Post syllabus on Moodle Learning Management System.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in English or a closely related field with appropriate areas of concentration.
  • College-level teaching experience in English Composition or equivalent.
  • Experience fostering an inclusive, supportive, interactive classroom environment that draws on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles when teaching courses.
  • Experience using evidence-based strategies to support student success including frequent communication and active learning.
  • Skill in using instructional technologies effectively to support the writing, teaching, and learning processes.
  • Experience teaching with a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles to ensure the classroom is designed for a diverse group of learners to succeed.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching at the community college level.
  • Skill using MOODLE or other Learning Management System (LMS) to support student learning.

Compensation

Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay Scale (presently $4,536 for 3-credit course). Part-time, non-benefited DCE/MCCC Unit position.

Additional Information

This appointment is subject to the FY2027 budget appropriations. Appointment subject to SORI (Sex Offender Registry Information), publicly accessible Massachusetts CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and national background checks.
