Music & Audio Production, Performing Arts Roles/ Dance Instructor
Reporting to the Director of Music and collaborating with the Music Program Coordinator, the Music Lesson Instructor teaches private instrumental and/or vocal music lessons and occasionally coaches student ensembles.
At this time, we are searching for instructors who teach:
- Violin/Viola
- Voice
- Bassoon
- Teach private lessons to students with a varying range of experience across grade levels 9-12
- Coaching ensembles as needed throughout the school year
- Perform alongside students in ensembles as needed throughout the year
- Clearly communicate the lesson schedule to students
- Maintain excellent records of private lessons taught as well as student attendance
- Submit weekly timesheets to the Music Program Coordinator as appropriate
- Submit End of Term information (number of lessons taught, number of unexcused lessons, if any) to the Music Program Coordinator
- Attend meetings scheduled by Music Director and/or Music Program Coordinator
- Bachelor’s degree in music required, Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 1-3 years teaching private music lessons required; experience teaching adolescents preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Willingness to work with ensembles required; demonstrated success leading ensembles preferred
- Demonstrated excellence as a professional performing musician required
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community;
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to frequently stand and/or sit for sustained periods of time
- Ability to reach items and paperwork
- Ability to frequently sustain substantial movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Ability to occasionally stoop or kneel
- Ability to occasionally lift/carry/push up to 10 pounds
- The worker is mainly in an office environment and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
