The Ashburnham‑Westminster Regional School District is accepting applications for a Middle School Science teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year. In alignment with the AWRSD mission and strategic vision, the teacher creates a learning environment where every student is known, challenged, and supported, preparing students to become contributing citizens in a rapidly changing world. The teacher promotes scientific literacy through inquiry‑based learning, real‑world applications, and student‑centered instructional practices.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Plan and deliver rigorous science instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Curriculum Frameworks.
- Develop engaging lessons that incorporate inquiry, experimentation, engineering design, and real‑world problem‑solving.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social‑emotional, and learning needs of all students.
- Utilize data‑driven instructional practices to monitor progress and improve student achievement.
- Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance learning and support responsible use of resources.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that reflects the district's commitment to equity and belonging.
- Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative measures and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues, special education staff, interventionists, and administrators to support student success.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and caregivers regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
- Participate in professional learning opportunities, faculty meetings, curriculum development, and school improvement initiatives.
- Support school‑wide programs and activities that promote positive school culture and community engagement.
Position Type: Full‑time
Job Requirements- Current DESE General Science Licensure, 5‑8, is required.
- The ideal candidate will be an energetic and hardworking individual who believes all students can achieve at high levels and is collaborative and enjoys working with a strong team focused on open communication and high expectations.
