Responsibilities
  • Instructional Delivery & Curriculum
    • Plan and implement interactive, age‑appropriate Spanish lessons utilizing research‑backed second language acquisition strategies such as TPR, storytelling, and comprehensible input.
    • Ensure all lesson plans and curricula align with state and national World Language standards.
    • Infuse daily lessons with cultural context, exposing students to the rich diversity, traditions, music, and geography of the Spanish‑speaking world.
  • Assessment & Classroom Management
    • Evaluate students’ language growth through informal formative checks, oral evaluations, and age‑appropriate quizzes or projects. Prepare timely grades and progress reports.
    • Maintain a positive, inclusive, vibrant, and respectful classroom culture where young students feel safe to take risks in language learning.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Collaborate with grade‑level lead teachers to integrate core classroom themes into Spanish lessons where appropriate.
    • Keep families informed of student progress and program highlights via regular updates, newsletters, emails, or parent‑teacher conferences.
    • Participate in school‑wide events and assist with shared duties as integrated into the pro‑rated schedule.
    • Participate in relevant professional development and department meetings to stay current with best practices.
  • Qualifications & Skills
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education, Spanish, or a related field.
    • Valid state teaching certification or license with an endorsement in World Languages (Spanish) or Elementary Education (with demonstrated language proficiency).
    • Native or near‑native fluency in both Spanish and English (written and spoken).
    • Proven teaching experience with young learners or leading group educational settings is highly preferred.
    • Exceptional organizational skills to maximize instructional time.
    • High energy, flexibility, sense of humor, and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse staff, students, and families.
Work Environment and

Physical Requirements
  • Communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and in writing.
  • Stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and move throughout school buildings and grounds for extended periods.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, athletic fields, buses, and other school settings.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to student needs, emergencies, behavioral incidents, and safety concerns.
  • Lift, carry, push or pull materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance when necessary.
  • Operate standard office and instructional equipment, including computers, tablets, printers, telephones, and audiovisual equipment.
  • Reach, grasp, handle, and manipulate instructional materials and equipment.
  • Work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments and tolerate exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and weather conditions.
  • Maintain emotional control and exercise sound judgment in a fast‑paced educational environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
