Masters Academy International is New England’s only school that combines top‑tier sports and academics to prepare future leaders who excel in athletics, academics, and life. At MAI academics are a vital part of developing an elite performer, with a curriculum that respects the demands of our athletes while sustaining intellectual rigor. Students are challenged through engaging coursework grounded in inquiry, encouraging healthy disagreement and debate and emphasizing quality over quantity.
MAI’s academic program balances well‑being and learning for our student‑athletes, helping them develop knowledge and the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. Students take ownership of their education and nurture critical and creative thinking skills, becoming critical thinkers, effective communicators, and confident learners ready to excel in any field.
The OpportunityAs a math teacher, you will help students function as mathematicians every day, developing an appreciation for mathematics as a tool and a way of thinking. Students explore how math is used by professionals across fields and in everyday life, discovering its relevance beyond the classroom. Each week they attempt solutions, pose questions, receive feedback, iterate, and reflect on errors to gradually master concepts while building critical thinking, reasoning, and problem‑solving skills.
Your discussion‑ and problem‑focused approach emphasizes collaboration and communication, encouraging students to take ownership of learning and develop deep conceptual understanding. You will cultivate a classroom culture where students share their work—even when incomplete or in progress—and engage in rich discussion and debate about problem‑solving strategies and approaches. You guide discussions during class sessions and small‑group tutorials, supporting students as they develop confidence in explaining their thinking, persevere through challenging problems, and discover how mathematics serves as a practical and powerful tool for making sense of the world.
WhatYou Will Do
You will lead students in grades 6–12 to think and function as mathematicians, fostering conceptual understanding and practical problem‑solving skills. You will design and facilitate collaborative learning experiences, guide class discussions and small‑group tutorials, and provide one‑on‑one support to help students articulate reasoning, defend solutions, and engage in meaningful mathematical debate. You will support students in using AI as a tool for independent learning and problem‑solving, provide actionable feedback, and cultivate a classroom culture of curiosity, belonging, and respect.
Partnering with families, you will communicate proactively to support each student’s academic growth and personal development.
You are an experienced middle‑ and high‑school math teacher capable of fostering deep understanding and a love of mathematical thinking. You use technology and AI thoughtfully to personalize learning and support student problem‑solving. You understand—or are eager to learn about—the unique demands of student‑athletes and can help them develop balance and resilience. You bring a strong sense of ownership, humility, and collaboration, and approach challenges with courage, integrity, adaptability, and a lifelong commitment to learning.
You view assessment as a tool for growth, helping students learn from errors and refine their mathematical thinking.
