Music Lesson Instructor

Reporting to the Director of Music and collaborating with the Music Program Coordinator, the Music Lesson Instructor teaches private instrumental and/or vocal music lessons and occasionally coaches student ensembles.

At this time, we are searching for instructors who teach:

• Violin/Viola
• Voice
• Bassoon

• Teach private lessons to students with a varying range of experience across grade levels 9-12.
• Coaching ensembles as needed throughout the school year.
• Perform alongside students in ensembles as needed throughout the year.

• Clearly communicate the lesson schedule to students.
• Maintain excellent records of private lessons taught as well as student attendance.
• Submit weekly timesheets to the Music Program Coordinator as appropriate.
• Submit End of Term information (number of lessons taught, number of unexcused lessons, if any) to the Music Program Coordinator.
• Attend meetings scheduled by Music Director and/or Music Program Coordinator.

• Bachelor’s degree in music required, Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 1-3 years teaching private music lessons required; experience teaching adolescents preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work with ensembles required; demonstrated success leading ensembles preferred.
• Demonstrated excellence as a professional performing musician required.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
• Ability to work as part of a team.

• Ability to frequently stand and/or sit for sustained periods of time.
• Ability to reach items and paperwork.
• Ability to frequently sustain substantial movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Ability to occasionally stoop or kneel.
• Ability to occasionally lift/carry/push up to 10 pounds.

• The worker is mainly in an office environment and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
