BCBA/Behavior Management Specialist

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree and BCBA Certification
  • Extensive experience working high school age children
  • Experience in completing Functional Behavior Assessments and developing behavior improvement plans
  • Knowledge and understanding of discipline procedures including laws pertaining to school discipline.
  • Strong communication, organization, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a high-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in French, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, or Portuguese, a plus.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Vice Principal of Student Support Services

Job Goal:

To assist in providing a safe environment so that all students may reap the greatest benefit from the school's educational opportunities; to promote personal accountability, conflict resolution, and healthy decision-making.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a member of a Behavior Management Team
  • Serves as a member of the Student Support team including the Director of Guidance, Vice Principal of Student Support, Vice Principal of Curriculum and Instruction, Director of Special Education, Academic and Vocational Supervisors, related staff members
  • Train Paraprofessionals and other BMS so they can appropriately assist in the implementation of behavior plans.
  • Works diligently to promote a safe and welcoming school environment by immediately addressing minor behavior infractions and continually setting reminders of behavioral expectations.
  • Assists students in developing problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Models appropriate and professional conduct and appearance for all students.
  • Assists the administrative staff with enforcement of behavior management policies and expectations.
  • Follows through on all "Behavioral Reports" submitted by faculty or staff.
  • Identifies groups of at-risk students and meets with them regularly to track their progress.
  • Performs all investigations relevant to behavior reports and/or as assigned by the Vice Principal of Student Support Services.
  • Assigns consequences for behavior infractions, consistent with the Student Handbook.
  • Schedules and attends meetings with families regarding behavior.
  • Monitors corridors, lavatory facilities, and school grounds.
  • Conducts regular meetings with student groups.
  • Communicates regularly and promptly with families, guidance, administrators, teachers, and colleagues regarding student issues.
  • Identifies building-wide behavior trends and makes appropriate recommendations for remediation.
  • Creates and maintains student records, as required.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
  • Physical Requirements:

    This position is classified as Medium work, which means that the employee may be required to stand, walk, or move for up to 6 hours in an 8-hour work day. The physical requirements to perform the essential functions of the position include:

    • Ability to move, with or without accommodations, throughout the building and grounds to provide supervision of students and student activities and respond to urgent situations.
    • Ability to see, with or without accommodations, to provide supervision of students and student activities.

    Work Environment:

    To perform the essential functions of this position, the employee may frequently be outside, e.g., monitoring parking lots, attending sporting events, etc. At other times, the employee will be indoors in a busy and often noisy environment.
