Job DescriptionThe Athol-Royalston Regional School District is looking for Special Education Teachers at the Athol Community Elementary School. Licensed candidates, and those who may qualify for Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) licenses or waivers, are encouraged to apply. Individuals who believe they may qualify for an Emergency License or DESE waiver are encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates must be committed to helping students find academic, social, and emotional success in an inclusive setting and possess skills and strategies to assist students with communication disabilities. The chosen educator will work alongside and in partnership with content general educators in grades kindergarten through grade two and direct paraprofessionals for inclusionary practices in the general education classroom. The co‑teachers will create an equitable, inclusive environment that supports students’ mental health while presenting them with challenging, rigorous content with a focus on growth.
Candidates will complete all required special education testing, act a liaison/case manager for a caseload of students, attend and participate at IEP meetings, write IEP's, prepare progress reports and all other special education tasks in support of students, as well as any other duties assigned by the Special Education Coordinator, Principal or Director of Pupil Services.
On the job training, support and/or mentoring will be provided.

- Must hold a valid Massachusetts teaching license, or be eligible.
- Hold a valid Massachusetts SEI Endorsement.
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. - Ability to move, bend, sit, stand and lift 10 lbs or more.
- At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
