Role Description The Special Education Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role located in Berlin, MA. This position is responsible for overseeing special education programs, coordinating services, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with educators and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), supporting curriculum adaptation, and monitoring student progress. The coordinator will provide guidance to teaching staff on best practices in special education, lead meetings and professional development, and work closely with school leadership to promote inclusive education across grade levels.
The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, contributing to policy development, and serving as a resource for students, caregivers, and staff.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Special Education and Education, including knowledge of IEP processes, accommodations, and inclusive practices.
- Strong background in Teaching and Curriculum Development, with the ability to support differentiated instruction and modify curriculum for diverse learners.
- Proven Educational Leadership skills, including collaboration with administrators, mentoring educators, and leading team meetings and initiatives.
- Relevant state certification or licensure in Special Education; advanced degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations, and experience with compliance and documentation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Experience working in Pre-K–12 settings and with a range of disabilities; prior coordination or supervisory experience is an advantage.
