Job DescriptionNotre Dame Academy is a dynamic, independent, Catholic school for girls in grades 7-12 sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Position Summary:
Notre Dame Academy seeks a full-time Middle School English Teacher to join our faculty for the academic year and work with students in grades 7–8. This role focuses on building foundational literacy, critical thinking, and a love of reading and writing. Teachers at Notre Dame Academy play a vital role in forming young women of intellect, faith, and purpose. In addition to classroom instruction, faculty members serve as mentors, advisors, and active participants in a collaborative, student-centered school environment.
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with course objectives and school standards
- Create a classroom environment that is structured, inclusive, and supportive of student learning and growth
- Assess student progress regularly and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, interdisciplinary opportunities, and school initiatives
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events (including occasional evenings or weekends)
- Uphold and model the mission and values of Notre Dame Academy in all aspects of school life
- Contribute to a positive school culture grounded in respect, responsibility, and care for others
- Teach reading, writing, grammar, and literature
- Foster discussion-based and reflective classroom experiences
- Support students’ growth as thoughtful readers and confident writers
- Build strong relationships during a key developmental stage
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required;
Master’s degree preferred - Prior teaching experience preferred, but not required
- Teaching certification preferred, but not required
- Demonstrated ability (or strong potential) to work effectively with middle and high school students
